New Baby Photos!

I got another ultrasound last week (week 28 of the pregnancy). It was supposed to be just to check the placenta, but I got another full diagnostic ultrasound. She wasn't co-operating very much, she kept putting her hands in front of her face.
This was the best scan that we got of her.

Here's a profile shot.

She has hair! In the scan you can see the little bumps, those are hair follicles. Yay!

We also found out that she weighed 3 lbs 2 oz. and is in the 90th percentile for her length. It sure feels like it too! She's quickly running out of room in there!

Also, my Placenta Previa has resolved itself! (Which was expected. It resolves in 90% or pregnancies.) It means that I don't have to schedule a c-section though. Yay!

So....Last Month Was Halloween....

So I though I would finally post some pictures!

Seamus designed the pumpkin and Duke cut it out.

Seamus dressed up as Lightning McQueen and Duke dressed up as our attorney who just got back from an elephant hunt in Africa.

I dressed up as a spider....which didn't really work because my extra legs kept falling off because of the cold. It was nice to have a warmer Halloween! (Warmer than last year I mean.)

The Evolution of Beauty

30 September 2009

It's a .....

GIRL!

(Our baby girl in 3D.)

Our Sonographer, Mike, told me that it was important to enjoy the last few minutes (or rather, 45 minutes) of not knowing the baby's gender. He then proceeded to make me wait till the end of the sonogram to tell me if we were having a boy/girl. (Which I think is pretty standard anyway.)

(3D profile)

The diagnostic part of the sonogram is still 2D but we got to see part of the sonogram in 4D. 4D is just a 3D sonogram where the images are strung together quickly to show the babies motion.

She was not very co-operative which is why it took so long. She had her back facing outward which made it hard to get lots of the diagnostic info. I was worried that she wasn't going to be in a good position to see the gender but that one was pretty easy to see. :-)

Seamus liked seeing his baby and thought it was cool to see her moving around. When Mike told us the gender we asked Seamus what he thought about having a baby sister. He said, "I want a boy."

Now the search for a name begins....

Summer Catch-up

I have neglected my blog all summer. I'm blaming it on morning sickness and 1st trimester fatigue. (Although sitting at the desk is not much more work than sitting on the couch.) I also didn't take many photos over the summer but I wanted to share some highlights as I got the blog up to date. The main reason for this is that I am having my 21 week ultrasound later today and I really want to be caught up before I post the new ultrasound pics. So here goes...

Seward, Alaska - July 2009

We went with my Parents for the 4th of July. Duke and Seamus lit fireworks for us down by the beach which was a lot of fun.

Seamus was showing off his muscles.

Seward had record breaking weather while we were there. It was in the upper 70's to the lower 80's. I know that sounds funny to anyone who has not lived in AK but for us it was REALLY hot! We had a great time playing in the ocean. Our hotel didn't have a pool so none of us thought to bring a swimming gear. (And yes, we stayed in a hotel in Seward. More on that later.)
Seamus got a seaweed wrap from Duke.

Seamus took of his shorts after falling in the water. (He apparently didn't believe me that the mossy green rocks were slippery.) But in order to preserve his my future life, I have chosen not to post pictures of him in his underwear. That's one he might not forgive me for.

Seamus and my Mom at Exit Glacier.

Seamus on the Exit Glacier Trail.

Seamus and my sister, Mary, sword fighting with hot dog sticks.

Seamus with Auntie Mary.
Duke, Seamus and Mary.

We had a bonfire the the beach one night because a trip to Seward would not be complete without a night on the beach!
My Mom and sister, Claire.

My Mom's idea of camping is staying in a 3 star hotel. Which is why we "technically" camped in Seward.

My Dad.
Seamus skipping rocks.

Duke tried to teach Seamus how to skip rocks. He didn't really get it but what kid doesn't love throwing rocks anyway.

I couldn't forget the wildlife. There was a pair of what appeared to be humpback whales in Resurrection Bay the whole weekend. They were a lot of fun to watch.

Jewel Lake - Aug 2009

One weekend at the park Duke's sister, Keiki, and her fiance, Chris, brought their canoe. Duke convinced me to go out with them in the canoe. Thanks in part to my polarized sunglasses, I quickly remembered why I don't like canoe's - or lakes. I hate lake water. I hate the gross stuff that grows at the bottom of the lake. I just hate lakes. The park was fun but it will be about another 5 years before anyone will convince me to go out on a lake again.

*I have no problem with creeks, rivers (unless they are brown like the Mississippi - yuck), or oceans.

David Archuleta Concert - Aug 2009

David Archuleta was performing at the Alaska State Fair this year. Duke's sister, Lahela, and I got to go see him. In case you don't know who he is, he was the runner up on American Idol last season and he's LDS. (I didn't know that until the day of the concert.)
The weather wasn't too cold and we had a great time. We even got to watch the fireworks that night but I was eating yummy fried zucchini and didn't take any pictures.

Alaska State Fair - Sep 2009

Duke sold his truck camper topper this summer so we had a little extra cash to go to the fair. (We still have the F-350 bed if anyone wants it. It's free.)

Seamus had lots of fun on the rides. Notice he picked the Mercedes. Yeah, my kids got class. He definitely know the difference between my Mom's new Mercedes and our old Subaru. LOL!
His favorite rides were the fun houses.
There was a reptile house that was really cool. Seamus got to pet the Tortoises. He wanted to kill everything else in there though.

Seamus' absolute favorite part of the fair was the Mini Golf. He played 3 times. We had a great time!

Labor Day Luau - Sep 2009

On Labor Day we got everyone in both of our families together at Jewel Lake Park and had a big barbecue. It was super fun and it's going to become a family tradition.
Martha and Seamus watching a plane take off.

Zoe tried out my snorkel in the lake.

Seamus and Brighton playing in the sand.

Seamus rowing himself away.

We had a great summer and did lots of fun things. The weather was awesome and we really enjoyed lots of outdoor fun! Now fall is here and the snow will be here in the next few weeks. Hope you all had fun catching up with us. I'm going to be doing better at keeping the blog updated now that I'm feeling better.

Check back tomorrow to find out what we're having!!

Seamus' 4th Birthday

Seamus turned 4 on Aug. 17th. In order to preserve my sanity, we had his birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. At the time I was still very tired and nauseous from being pregnant and the most brilliant thing in the world was a party that I didn't have to clean up!
(Elijah, Seamus, Logan with Chuck E Cheese.)
Getting a photo of all the cousins together was not possible because of the constant lure of the games. LOL!
(Brighton and Seamus with Chuck E Cheese.)
Seamus had all his cousins in town at the party and he had a great time.

Seamus had lots of fun opening his presents. But not as much fun as he did playing the games. It was a lot of work getting the kids to sit and eat. Anything else not involving food was quickly forgotten.
Here is a photo of most of the adults. The kids only really came around for tokens or small bites of food. The only reason Seamus was sitting here is because he had just finished opening presents. All the kids had a lot of fun though and Seamus loved it!

I can't believe my baby is getting so big!

Fatness

"Mommy, check out my fatness!"

Introducing: "Turtle" Baby

I had my first Dr.'s appointment today. Seamus got to come with us so that he could see his baby and hear the heartbeat.

Here he/she is!
When Seamus saw the baby he said it looks like a "Turtle Baby." So I guess that is his/her new nickname.
It was really cool to see it's heart beating. When we saw Seamus for the first time I wasn't as far along (about 8 weeks) and this baby is measuring almost 10 weeks. We also got this cool picture that shows the heartbeats.
I also didn't expect to see the baby moving around so much. It was dancing and kicking all over the place. But I guess that is due to not being as far along last time as well.

The baby is now almost 3cm long and measuring 4 days ahead of my due date. My Dr. is not going to change my due date yet though. She's going to see how big the baby is in the ultrasound at my next appointment.

The rest of my ultrasounds will be 3D too which also wasn't available when I was pregnant with Seamus.

As a final note...I had 5 tubes of blood drawn today, which is my personal record. And I hope to keep it that way. I hate having my blood drawn so I am very excited that I survived.

Now I have to go because Seamus is feeding the baby some Cheese-It's via me. Yay!

** I should have known that posting a picture of the home pregnancy test that I pee'd on would gross Duke out. (from the last post) To those of you who also find yourselves grossed out by this...I'm sorry, but it's staying. So just don't look.
